Travertine
Travertine is a natural limestone formed by minerals deposited from fresh water. It often has warm cream, beige and sandy tones, with visible layers and small natural pores. Colour and texture vary from stone to stone, giving each piece of furniture its own appearance.
At sackit, we choose travertine for the combination of its weight, muted colours and varied surface. It adds depth to simple shapes and works well alongside wood, textiles and metal. We make the stone’s natural pattern part of the design.
With the right care, travertine can last for many years. Quality depends on the stone, its workmanship and the furniture’s construction. Natural differences in colour, pores and pattern are part of the material. The surface does need thoughtful care, as it can absorb liquids and is sensitive to acids.
Care and maintenance
Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry afterwards. If needed, use a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for natural stone. Wipe up spills immediately and use coasters and heat-resistant mats. Avoid vinegar, descaling products and abrasive cleaners. Lemon and wine can etch the surface. Always follow the furniture’s care instructions before applying a sealer or any other treatment.
