Find the right hallway lighting
Good hallway lighting gives enough light to find your keys and shoes, but does not dazzle you when you come in from the dark. In most hallways a ceiling light works as the main light together with a lamp on the console table or the wall. Choose warm light of around 2700 K so the hallway feels welcoming.
Ceiling light for the hallway
Many hallways have just one ceiling point, so that lamp has to do a lot. Expo Ceiling sits close to the ceiling and has a lamp head that turns 360 degrees and tilts, so you can point the light at the coat rack or the mirror. If your ceiling is high, a pendant from the Dawn series can hang in the middle of the room and give glare-free light downwards. If you want dimmable hallway lighting, both work with smart bulbs. See all our ceiling lamps.
Lighting for a small or narrow hallway
In a narrow hallway a wall lamp gives light without taking up space. Expo Wall projects only 11.5 cm from the wall, and the light source sits recessed in the shade so it does not dazzle. Several wall lamps in a row can light a long hallway at even intervals. See all wall lamps.
Cordless lamp with no electrician needed
If there is no socket by the console table, a cordless lamp can do the job. Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ stands on a table or shelf and lasts over 24 hours at 50% brightness. You dim it on the lamp itself or from your phone in the sackit app. See more cordless table lamps.
Where to place the light in the hall
Put the light where you use the hallway: above the mirror and by the coat rack. A mirror works best with light from the side or from above, so you are not standing in your own shadow. You will find more ideas in our Expo Lookbook.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Which lamp suits a hallway without a socket?
A cordless lamp with a battery. Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ and Light 155 need no power from the wall and can stand wherever there is space.
Does Expo Ceiling suit a hallway with a low ceiling?
Yes. The lamp is 14.5 cm high and sits close to the ceiling, so it takes up little height.
Which bulb goes in Expo Ceiling and Expo Wall?
A GU10 bulb. The lamps come without a bulb, and Bulb GU10 gives a warm 2700 K light.
How long does a cordless lamp last in the hallway?
Over 24 hours at 50% brightness for both Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ and Light 155. If you use it for an hour a day, one charge lasts several weeks.
How do I clean the Expo lamps?
Wipe them with a soft cloth. The black and white versions have a matt powder-coated surface that resists fingerprints.
