Find the right lamp for every room
Every room needs its own light. In the kitchen you need to see what you're cutting, in the bedroom the light should be soft, and in the hallway one lamp should be enough when you come home. Most rooms work best with light at several heights: general light from the ceiling, a lamp where you sit or work, and some ambient light on the windowsill or a shelf. Choose warm light around 2700 K in rooms where you want to relax.
Living room lighting
In the living room, a floor lamp such as Expo 185 casts soft light up the wall, and you dim it steplessly with a foot pedal. On the coffee table and windowsill, cordless lamps such as Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ and Cone add ambient light where there is no socket. See all living room lighting.
Lamps over the dining table and in the kitchen
Over a round dining table, a pendant such as Dawn Pendant Ø40 works well. Over a long table or a kitchen island, Ease 180 lights the full length with a single lamp, and the Ease series also comes in 120 cm. See dining room lighting, long table pendants and kitchen lighting.
Bedroom lighting
The bedroom calls for subdued light. A table lamp on the bedside table or a wall lamp such as Expo Wall by the bed gives you reading light without lighting up the whole room. See all bedroom lighting, bedside lamps and night lights.
Hallway lighting
In the hallway, the light should come on quickly and light up both the floor and the mirror. The lamp head on Expo Ceiling can be turned and tilted, so you can point the light where you need it. See all hallway lighting.
Bathroom lighting
Bathrooms are damp, so the lamps there need to handle water. Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ and Light 155 are IP67-certified and can stand near the sink or the bathtub. See all bathroom lighting.
Desk lamps and window lamps
At the desk you need focused light on the work surface. Expo Table has a solid marble base and glare-free light. See all desk lamps. On the windowsill, a small cordless lamp gives ambient light without cables across the sill. See all window lamps.
If you'd rather search by lamp type, you'll find all lamps in one place, including ceiling lamps, floor lamps, table lamps and wall lamps.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
How many lamps does a room need?
It depends on the room. A living room usually needs three to five lamps, while a hallway or bathroom often manages with one or two.
Which colour temperature suits which room?
Warm light around 2700 K suits the living room, the bedroom and the dining area. Our light bulbs for Expo and Dawn give 2700 K light.
Which lamps can handle moisture in the bathroom?
Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ and Light 155 are IP67-certified and can handle water. See all bathroom lighting.
Can I use the same lamp in several rooms?
Yes. Cordless lamps such as Ambience Lamp Intelligent+, Light 155 and Cone can be moved between rooms and taken outside too. See our outdoor lamps.
How high should a lamp hang over the dining table?
As a rule of thumb, 60–70 cm above the tabletop, so you can see the person opposite you without looking into the light.
