Find the right living room lighting
The best living room lighting is rarely a single lamp. Most living rooms work best with light at several heights: light from the ceiling, a lamp by each seat and a little mood lighting in the corners. That way you can switch off the ceiling light in the evening and still have a room that feels cosy. Choose warm light of 2700–3000 K.
Floor lamps for the living room
A floor lamp lights up a corner where there is no room for a table. Expo 185 sends a soft light up the wall and is dimmed steplessly with a foot pedal from 90 to 900 lumens. If your ceiling is low, it also comes in a 120 cm version. If you need reading light by the sofa or armchair, Expo Floor has a lamp head that turns and tilts down towards your book. See all our floor lamps.
Table lamps and mood lighting
Lamps on the coffee table, the sideboard or the windowsill give the low light that makes a living room cosy in the evening. Ambience Lamp Intelligent+ is cordless and can be dimmed from your phone, and with an oak base it sits well next to wooden furniture. See more cordless table lamps and window lamps. Expo Table has a solid marble base and gives glare-free light on the sideboard or bookshelf. See all table lamps.
Real flames in the living room
If you want real flames without a fireplace, Bio Lamp can stand on the coffee table. It burns on bioethanol for 4–6 hours without smoke, soot or smell and can be used indoors and outdoors.
Living room lighting ideas with a dining table
If your living room has a dining table, a pendant from the Dawn series gives glare-free light down onto the table, while the perforation at the top sends a little light up to the ceiling. Dawn comes in Ø25 and Ø40, so you can choose the size to suit the table. You will find more advice under dining room lighting.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions
How many lamps should a living room have?
Usually three to five, depending on the size. A ceiling light, a lamp by the sofa and armchair and mood lighting in a couple of corners is a good starting point.
What colour temperature is best for a living room?
Warm light of 2700–3000 K. Expo 185 and Expo 120 give 2700 K light, and so do sackit's bulbs for Dawn and Expo.
Can the Expo floor lamps be dimmed?
Yes, Expo 185 and Expo 120 are dimmed steplessly with the foot pedal. Expo Floor has an on/off switch but can be dimmed if you use a smart bulb. See the whole Expo series.
Can a bio lamp be used indoors?
Yes. Bio Lamp is made for both indoor and outdoor use. Put the snuffer lid on when you are done so the bioethanol does not evaporate. See all bio lamps.
Does Expo 185 need to be installed?
No. Expo 185 and Expo 120 arrive ready to use and plug into a standard socket.
