How to choose kitchen lighting

In the kitchen, light has two jobs. You need to see what you are chopping, and the room should be pleasant to sit in afterwards. That is why many people hang kitchen lights over the table or kitchen island and add light on the wall or shelves. Choose warm light of around 2700 K if the kitchen is also where you eat.

Pendant lights for a kitchen island

Over a kitchen island or kitchen table, a pendant light gives focused light down onto the worktop. A pendant from the Dawn series has a white inner shade and a recessed bulb, so the light is glare-free. Dawn comes in Ø25 and Ø40, and several in a row suit a long kitchen island. Kitchen ceiling light

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How high should a pendant hang over a kitchen island?

As a rule of thumb, 70–80 cm above the worktop. The light then reaches the worktop without the bulb dazzling you when you stand.

How many pendants does a kitchen island need?

Often two or three, depending on the length. As a rule of thumb, keep 60–80 cm between the pendants so the light spreads evenly across the worktop.

Which bulb goes in Dawn?

An E27 bulb. We recommend a crown-silvered bulb such as Bulb 6W E27, which gives 2700 K and 540 lumens.

Can Expo Pendant be used with a smart bulb?

How do I clean the lamps in the kitchen?

Wipe them with a dry microfibre cloth. The matt powder-coated surface on the Expo lamps resists grease marks and fingerprints.
