Pendant Lights
A pendant light hangs from the ceiling and gathers the light over a table, a kitchen island or a coffee table. Here you will find aluminium pendants from our Dawn and Expo series.
Find the right pendant light
A pendant light, also called a hanging light, gives light that falls down onto whatever is below it. That is why most pendants hang over the dining table, the kitchen island or the coffee table. When you choose a pendant, the size and the height above the table matter most.
Dawn with light up and down
Dawn Pendant Ø25 and Dawn Pendant Ø40 are shaped after the classic workshop lamp. The bulb sits recessed behind a white inner shade, so the light downwards is glare-free, and the perforation at the top sends a little light up to the ceiling. Dawn comes in white, black and polished aluminium and has a 3 metre cable. See the whole Dawn series.
The slim Expo Pendant
Expo Pendant is 21 cm high and 6 cm in diameter. It takes up little space and works well hung in a row over a long table or kitchen island. The light is directed downwards, and the golden inside gives a warm tone. See the whole Expo series.
Size and number
A large pendant such as Dawn Ø40 can hang alone over a round table. A long table often looks best with two or three smaller pendants, such as Dawn Ø25 or Expo Pendant, hung at the same height. If the room also lacks general light, see all our ceiling lamps.
Hanging lights without a table below
A pendant does not have to hang over a table. Over an armchair or in a corner, a hanging light can give light where there is no room for a floor lamp. In the bedroom a Dawn pendant can be the ceiling light, and the light through the perforation gives a soft glow on the ceiling. See more ideas under bedroom lighting.
Height above the table
As a rule of thumb, a pendant hangs 60–70 cm above the dining table, so you can see the people opposite without looking into the bulb. Over a kitchen island, where you stand, it can hang a little higher. You will find more advice under dining room lighting and kitchen lighting.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a pendant and a hanging light?
There is none. Pendant, pendant light and hanging light all describe the same type of lamp, which hangs from the ceiling on a cable.
Which bulb goes in a Dawn pendant?
An E27 bulb. We recommend Bulb 6W E27, which is crown-silvered and gives 2700 K.
Does Expo Pendant come with a bulb?
No. Expo Pendant uses a GU10 bulb, for example Bulb GU10, which is sold separately.
Can a pendant be fitted to a sloping ceiling?
Yes, Dawn can be fitted to a sloping ceiling. It is screwed to the ceiling with the included ceiling cup, and installation instructions are included.
Can the pendants be dimmed?
Yes, with a smart bulb. Both Dawn and Expo Pendant work with smart bulbs, but sackit's own Bulb GU10 cannot be dimmed in the Expo lamps.
